Marine turtle Volunteering program

 Want to Work as a Volunteer in the Marine Turtles project, at Pacuare bar in Costa Rica?

The station "QUELONIOS of the Caribbean", welcomes volunteers who would like to assist us with our turtle conservation project. As our volunteer, you will have the opportunity to perform the following activities:

» You will receive an on site training that will provide the knowledge to work with marine turtles.
» You will patrol the beach at night.
» You will identify and count turtle tracks.
» You will find turtles nesting.
» You will count the quantity of eggs.
» You will relocate the eggs in a more secure site.
» You will monitor the hatchery.
» You will release the baby turtles on their return back to the ocean.
» You will monitor the temperature for the nest.
» You will record the precipitation volume.
» You will tag the turtles.
» You will measure the lenght and width of the turtles.
» You will have lots of time to enjoy Pacuare natural beauty.
» You can participe in cultural activities.
» You will receive a certificated of participation, if you are more than two week.

The nesting on our study beach, it being give from the begin of month of February to end of month of June with Baula turtles (Dermochelys Coriacea) and the Green turtles (Chelohia Mydas) nesting from begin of month of July to end of month of October. The baby turtles are released on the ocean from the month of May to month of December

From December month to January Month, it have the acuatics bird nesting and iguanes, with this it desvelop poblations monitors.

Fees and Payment

A minimum commitment of seven days is required to be a volunteer.
To reserve your space as volunteer in the Station Quelonios of the Caribbean, it is required to deposite 50% of your total stay, you can to pay in dolars or if you prefer in colons exchange rate of the day. You can contact us at altinorc@quelonioscr.com for additional instructions.

The Homestay Package is $15.00 per day per person. This fee includes hosting, three great meals a day (vegetarian available upon request). You will have to perform the duties mentioned above for a minimum of 8 hours a day.

If you would like to work with the station "Quelonios of the Caribbean", but you are available for less time than a week (minimum of 3 days), and you would like to enjoy our homestay program, the fee is $30.00 a day and includes hosting and three meals for day. You will have to perform the duties mentioned above for a minimum of 8 hours a day.

 Iif you reserve for more than two weeks, you will receive boat transportation free. From Goshen harbor to the station and back out.
